Someone asked me the other day wat my Best Trip To Europe has been.
It has been a while, but it was a trip in 2004, all the way from Amsterdam to the Red Sea in Jordan!
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
When college was over in the summer of 2004 my good friend Marc asked me what my plans were for the summer. Since I had almost no budget I had just as little plans. None.
TRAVEL THE WORLD AND SEE DIFFERENT PLACES
He was in a similar position so he asked me, why not grab a car and go on a roadtrip to Europe on a budget. No fancy hotels, just low budget roadtripping.
Before I knew it we were in a small Nissan Micra on our way to France. We made a stop there for a few days with his grandmother. His sister and father joined us as well for the trip. It turned out the plan was to go all the way to Jordan!
Little did I know about Jordan, let alone the countries around Jordan. He had lived in Saudi Arabia for a few years in his early years and his father had travelled from Amsterdam to Petra in the ’70’s. His father wanted to make the trip again, this time with two of his children and me.
To keep a very long story short, we travelled from France trough Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Romania, Turkey, Syria (this was long before the war) and ended up in Jordan. It was a trip I will never forget. Sleeping in abandonded Soviet hotels in Bosnia, sleeping in some sort of nightclub in Romania, sleeping in a luxurious hotel in Istanbul and even sleeping under the stars in the desert.
What I remember most about the trip is, just go for it. If you have an idea, just go for it. Doesn’t matter how crazy it sounds, it will be worth it in the end!
